Hong Kong-based GooPhone has released their clone for I5 which is a smartphone running on Ice Cream Sandwich platform, Android 4.0 designed based on the leaked photos of Apple’s upcoming iPhone 5. GooPhone had filed for a patent on the design and will sue Apple if the company releases iPhone 5 in China because they claimed that everything that comes after is a copy.
The rule of thumb is that China’s trademark law favours the first company to patent its design and designs that come after will be a copy.
GooPhone i5 comes with impressive specs including a Nvidia Tegra 3 quad-core 1.4GHz processor, 1GB of RAM, Android ICS on board, 8MP rear camera and of course, a 4-inch screen with resolution of 1,280 x 720 pixels Retina display. It will be sold at $300 which is approximately RM1,000 at launch which seems to be a very attractive deal with its awesome specs. So if the iPhone 5 designs that are leaked online is real and if it gets launched in China, GooPhone will sue Apple. iPhone 5 is scheduled to be launched on September 12 which is a week from now. Can’t wait to see what’s the result
GooPhone even posted a video threatening to sue Apple if iPhone 5 is released in China. Check out the video below :-
